Match Report 

Grange Utd 1-3 Cloughjordan

Today’s game seen our A team return to action after the recent tragedy within the club. We traveled  away to face Grange United . 

Grange United’s captain presented our captain with a pennant in memory of our teammate Chiboy who recently passed away. This was a lovely gesture by all involved with Grange. 💚🖤

A moments silence was observed before the game in Memory of Chiboy. 

First Half - 

The game started off with both teams getting a feel for each other and the game was a little back and forth with cloughjordan having a slight advantage with more possesion. Around the 25 min mark Tino Rotuani played a great one two pass with Darren Stokes who slotted the ball through the defence for Tino to run on to and slot the ball home from outside the box with a well placed  strike to put us 1-0 up. 

Grange started to put pressure on our defence and had a few balls over the top and one paid off when Tommy Brophy was able to control the ball and get in to slot the ball past our keeper to make it 1-1 on 38 mins. Grange were on top for the rest of the first half 

Second half - 

The second half started with both teams looking to take control and it was on 60 mins that Martin Grace playing in goal for us today launched a ball forward which took a nice bounce over the Grange defence which allowed Darren stokes to nip in and flick the ball over the head of the Grange Keeper who was coming out to close the angle. 

Grange pushed hard to get the equaliser throughout the rest of the game but into injury time they were caught with a counter attack which saw the ball played up the field to Stuart fox who was been closed down by the last defender and the keeper came across the goal, Stuart unselfishly played the ball across to the right side where Matt Phelan was coming in to the free space off the wing and was able to place the ball into the net to put us 3-1 up and confirm the victory.
